As you all know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month in the United States.  I bet you didn't know that  about 1 in 8 U.S. women, right around 12%, will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime?  In order to help battle this statistic, your CSMS dance team will be collecting donations next week,October 20th - 24th.  The money raised will go to a local non-profit organization  called the Pink Alliance that assists women in our own community who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.  Donations will be accepted before school each day in the back hall and gym by two of the dance team girls.  They'll have a sign and a pink bucket; you won't be able to miss them!  So go home, dig through the couch cushions, ask Mom and Dad for spare change and help your dance team raise money for a worthy cause!  We'll also be near the gate at next week's home game accepting donations as well!

Also, on Friday, October 24th we are going to have a Pink Out CSMS Day!!  Find all your best shades of pink and show your support!

For any questions contact Angela Monsivais at amonsivias@csisd.org or Mariah Street at mstreet@csisd.org.

  1. The 8th grade Lady Cubs traveled to Bryan High on Sat. for a volleyball tournament. There were 16 8th grade teams in attendance. Our first match we played Jane Long, defeating them in two sets. Next we took on Knox Junior High from The Woodlands in a very tough match. They won the first set 24-26, we had too many mental errors. We won the second set 25-10, putting together an impressive run. This continued into the third set which we won 15-7. This allowed us to advance to the medal rounds. Our team really stepped up to defeat the Lady Knights who ended up getting 3rd in the tournament. We had a couple of hours off after that before taking on Montgomery. We continued playing at the high level so we won that match 25-14, 25-14. In the championship match we defeated Rayburn for the 3rd time this year. The scores were 25-10 and 25-9 giving us the 1st Place trophy for the tournament. Leading hitters were Natalie Martin, Cami Winder, Grace Davis, and Taylor Gentry. Our two setters did double duty, setting from back row and hitting from front row, they are Emmie Castaneda and McKenzie Bennett. Our defensive specialist were Makenna Williams and Molly Luedke. Congratulations on Winning the tournament ladies!!!   Coach Cermin would like to send out a special thank you to Taylor Hollis, Bayli Adelmann, and Alexys King for coming to the tournament and spending all day helping and calling lines. The whole team really appreciates your commitment!!

Our next game is this Thurs. against Huntsville at 5 and 6 pm. We are going to do a fund raiser for cancer by having a pink out game. So come on out and support your volleyball teams and give to the American Cancer Society as well. See you Thursday!!!
