CSMS  Announcements

                                                                SEPTEMBER 22,  2014

  1. The cross country team competed at the Caldwell Invitational this past Saturday and totally dominated the competition. Having the lowest score determines the winner in cross country and the girls team had an impressive 18 points! (15 is a perfect score). Stephanie Brown was the overall champion finishing the muddy course in 12 minutes and 29 seconds. AK Bradford was 2nd and Shawnee Chavez, Callie Woods, Erin Clendenin, and Sloan Peacock came in 4-5-6-7. Avery Seagraves was the lone 7th grader in the top 15 earning a medal.

The boys team also were the champs scoring 36 points well ahead of 2nd place          Rayburn with 103 points. Kit Cawley paced the Cubs finishing in 5th, but it was the tight-knit group of teammates that sealed the win as Connor Lindsey, Zach Childers, Matthew McGinnis, and Shepherd Grimes all finished in the top 10.

The team will run at Brenham this Friday, then at Cameron the following Monday   for a rare back to back race.

  1. Cheerleaders don’t forget to stop by Mrs. Cain's room today so that she can check off your game day shirt.

Also, Yard signs and car decals will be available for pick up in the   cafeteria this afternoon so stop by and grab yours.

3.    The 8th grade Lady Cub Volleyball team hosted the Cub/Cat volleyball tournament this last Sat. We placed 2nd over all. The first match we defeated Madisonville 25-4, 25-4. McKenzie Bennett served the first 13 points, with 5 aces in her run. Emmie Castaneda had 3 kills. The second match we defeated Rayburn 25-15, 25-15. Natalie Martin had 4 kills, with Cami Winder and McKenzie Bennett contributing 3 each. This advanced us to the Championship match against Magnolia. The first set we could not get a ball to target so we did not do very well. We did play a great second set, our best team effort, but they were better.

A special thank you to all those that helped run the tournament we couldn't do it without you!!!

In our next match, we play Rayburn on Thurs. at their place so it should be another good match between the two schools. So please come out and support your Lady Cubs at 5 and 6 o'clock.

  1. This past weekend the 7th grade Purple team participated in the Cub/Cat Volleyball Tournament at CSMS. They won their first game against Madisonville with the score of 25-9 and 25-6. They also won their second game against Rayburn with the score of 25-16 and 25-12. The Championship game was against AMCMS. We lost the first set 24-26, fought back to win the second set 25-15, and then came back from a 7-0 deficit to win the third set 15-13! Please congratulate your CSMS volleyball players on their hard fought and well deserved tournament championship!! Our next game will be Thursday at Sam Rayburn. Come support your undefeated Lady Cubs!

                         HAVE A GREAT DAY CUBS!
