Good Morning, Cubs!  We are excited to begin our annual “Links for Life” fundraising campaign benefitting the American Cancer Society this coming Monday!  Help raise money to fight the battle against cancer by purchasing links from your advisory teacher for 25 cents each!  Do you know someone who has battled cancer or is battling cancer?  The effects of this disease can be devastating.  The American Cancer Society is predicting that there will be 1,665,540 new cancer cases this year alone.  They are also predicting that there will be 585,720 cancer deaths in the U.S. this year.  While those statistics are heart-wrenching, cancer deaths have decreased by 20 % over the past 2 decades.  So, dig out those quarters, bring dollar bills, ask your parents for a donation, solicit businesses, too! Together, we can help fight cancer.  The “Links for Life” fundraiser will run from April 7-21.  The winning advisory collecting the most money per student will win a pizza, soda and cupcake party.  The 2nd place advisory will receive a soda and cupcake party.  And the 3rd place team will be awarded cupcakes.  Let’s link up and lick cancer!

The 7th grade team won the meet with 218.5 points. First place finishers were:Sophie Cox in the shot put, Taryn Hairston in the discus, Annika Williams in the high jump, long jump, 100 hurdles and 200 meter run and Shawnee Chavez in the 800 and 400 meter runs.
