Please read the following request from our computer literacy teacher, Ms. Cameron. Any assistance you may be able to offer is appreciated:
My hometown elementary school, Hamshire-Fannett Elementary in Fannett, Tx (Southeast Texas) burnt a couple of nights ago and then rekindled last night and burnt some more. Thank goodness it was during the night. The school was 63 years old. It is a small, 3A community so the school is a historical marker and my hometown is devastated. They are trying to figure out how to start the kids back to school on Monday. They are in dire need of supplies for teachers, students, the nurse, the office, and the library. They lost all books and are in need of AR books. The students lost all of their materials and supplies as did the teachers. The teachers need help with any materials they can gather from other teachers in trying to redo rooms in portable buildings to make the children feel welcomed along with any supplies for the kids to use. They cancelled school for this week but will start again next week. I am trying to gather as much as possible from donations to take to them. Please let me know if you have any extra supplies laying around (for teachers, students, the nurse, AR book, library materials, etc.) that you could do without. This is a terrific community who has just been dealt a huge loss. We have a great district here in CSISD and I was hoping that many of you could help me pitch in and gather some items for my hometown.
Donations of items or money will be accepted through next Friday, Mar. 28. Donations may be dropped off during business hours in the CSMS front office.
Monetary donations may also be made online to a relief fund set-up for the school. Please go to Neches FCU Online at https://www.nechesfcu.org/index-secure.php. Click on HF Elementary School Relif fund link. The account number is 54383-1.
